Linton Kwesi Johnson: Inglan Is A Bitch

LKJ In Dub is the first album I heard as a kid that truly rearranged my musical world view. So I’m paying it forward here with a remix of ‘Inglan Is A Bitch.’

If this is your first encounter with LKJ, this anthology is awesome. The closest equivalent to Johnson’s voice is Eric Dolphy’s bass clarinet.

Thanks Bill for sharing. Of course I have a ton of LKJ’s music. Got to see him live many times too — including with the Dub Band @ SOB’s back in the mid-80’s (with Scott Turner). That ranks as one of the best live music events I have EVER scene. Also saw LKJ do a poetry reading at Columbia (with Jimi Gore, now known as Kahlil Jahi). Only a handful of folks in the audience and LKJ had the flu, but it was amazing just to hear him recite his brilliant poetry!
